No Visa Required
International students from over 60 countries do not require a visa to study in Ireland for short-term courses up to 90 days, including students from the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and several non-EU countries such as Brazil.
Visa for Courses Under 90 Days
For language courses lasting under 90 days, a visa may not be required for students from many countries. However, you will still need to comply with immigration requirements upon arrival in Ireland, including providing proof of your course enrolment, accommodation, and funds for your stay.
Visa Application Process
If you do need a visa, the application process is straightforward. You will need to submit an application to the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS), which involves providing documents such as proof of enrolment, financial support, accommodation details, and health insurance. Be sure to apply well in advance to ensure everything is processed before your departure.
Visa Extensions
In some cases, it may be possible to extend your visa if you decide to continue studying in Ireland. However, extensions are typically only granted if you are enrolled in a recognised full-time programme of study, and the application should be made before your current visa expires.
Registration in Dublin: If you are coming from outside the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland and intend to reside in Ireland for more than 90 days you must register a permission to remain with Immigration Service Delivery (ISD). That means registering your permission if you want to work, study, live or join family in Ireland. You must register your permission within 90 days of arriving in Ireland.First time registration for all residents in the Republic of Ireland will be carried out by Immigration Service Delivery (ISD).
